long drive.
On our way to work this morning, I saw plenty of camper, huge vans, RVs and even small cars with billet grills. Geez, people are going out of town despite the rain and despite the fact that it is a workweek. Hmmm, couldn't blame them, they must be eager-beavers and planned for all these getaway trips way before this unpredictable strong rains arrived. In fact, I am also praying very hard that our NYC trip this weekend won't be too much cold and rainy. I can't wait to be reunited with old friends and of course to see NYC :).
Where are you off to this weekend?

random recipes
It is a common question thrown on me why in the world did I not follow my mom's footsteps, that of being a baker and a great cook. You see, my mom is famous in our province for her wedding cakes, catering dishes and other cakes for special occasions. She supplied wedding cakes in major hotels there and like I mentioned before, she did all my birthday cakes and my beautiful fondant wedding cake. She is the designated cook on every family occasions. You should see how fast she could whip 8-10 dishes and nope they are not at all the Easy Cooking Recipes-dishes type!
To be honest, seeing her always busy and dead tired at the end of the day (especially during Naga's Penafrancia Festival and the holiday season -read: Christmas and New Year), I vowed not to follow her footsteps when I was younger. Also, I swore in that I won't be in any food business for that matter. But, when I reached my 20s, that's where I changed my mind. I thought of culinary as something inside of me, maybe it's in our blood. I regret the moments that I did not pay close attention to my mom's cooking trainings and cake decorating tips. Oftentimes, I find myself cooking and baking sites for pastry artistry courses. I would love to attend one course a specialized culinary school if only time and budget permits. I remember how I crammed on catching up on my mom's recipes before I left the country. Nevertheless, I think I am doing good in terms of cooking and baking. At least hubby and our toddler loves what I put on our dining table. That is all that matters to a neophyte cook and baker like me. And yes, now that I am back to working fulltime, I cook 1 week-worth of dishes every weekend because I still do not want to sacrifice my boys' health by always taking out fastfood meals. Happy Weekend!

THE Celebrity Diet Doctor.
Have you ever wondered how a celebrity mom can lose all those stubborn pregnancy flabs in no time? Although, some of them may resort to surgery and diet pills, supplements and plenty of vitamins while starving themselves, most of them are determined and very much disciplined to just diet and workout with a personal trainor, because afterall, their looks are their greatest investment in the industry.
Well then if you are as curious as I am, I chanced upon this site which features all of these celebrities' diet routines and tips. Check out Celebrity Diet Doctor. In the meantime, here is one of the weight loss tips I gather from the site:
Utah researchers at Brigham Young University tested two groups of women, increasing the fiber intake of one group by 8 grams for every 1 000 calories and using the second group as the control. It was found that the first group lost 4-and-a-half pounds over the course of the study.

Do you Love Bacon?
If there's one breakfast combo-meal that hubby, our son and I enjoy the most, it's OJ, bacon, eggs and rice! There goes my weight gain. We should all seriously start reading these alli reviews because of our calorie-and-fat-packed breakfast.
Well, that was before. I stopped eating bacon for almost 2 months now not counting the little bites from my son's leftovers. Anyways, if you are a bacon-lover like us, check this product. It's really nice to see all those fats/oil being squeezed out from your yummy bacon strips.
Its ability to let you easily and quickly make only as much freshly-broiled bacon as you want, on the spur of the moment and without the usual mess, is a convenience offered by none other. Small, takes up little space but no bacon cooker can make bacon faster. Broil a pound of regular or thick cut bacon in less than 10 minutes! Use two broilers, one in the microwave, while the
other is unloaded and reloaded.

fingerfoods.
I remember when I used to work for a diplomatic mission (yes those nonstop submission of resumes paid off!), all they ever served during meetings and parties (even embassy-wide Christmas parties) were fingerfoods. You know how we Filipinos can be such big eaters on this kind of gatherings right? So even if they only serve fingerfoods, I remember how we locals pile up our big plates while our foreigner bosses use nothing but bare fingers LOL. But, these fingerfood gadgets are quite up for grabs!
