untitled.
One of the most popular issues we talked about in school is social welfare. Since our concentration is on Public Administration, this kind of issues are what we usually talked about back in school. A friend used to tell me that one should be aware and well-informed on taxation and social welfare especially when you are in the States. That is so true, had I not be exposed in these kinds of issues, I would not know about Generational Equity. It is a social welfare topic which centers around younger generations paying for older generations. You can read more about this topic at AllAcademic.com.

5 for Wednesday #18

1. What kinds of pizza do you like?
>>>Less greasy, filled with black olives and cheese. Ahh, pizza is one of my comfort foods, I should not be eating pizza when I am in my decisive mode such as when I am checking online life insurance quotes because when I eat pizza, it's the only thing on my mind.
2. How do you shop in a grocery store?
>>>Used to have a list but now, hubby and I make random grocery trips which end up to be impulsive grocery shopping sprees.
3. What is the most unusual combination of items you put between two slices of bread and called a sandwich?
>>>My sandwiches are really simple because I do not want to to gobble on a very complicated bread and filling mix :)
4. Do you have a favorite simple recipe that has five or less ingredients? Share!
>>>A Pancake? Milk, butter, eggs, pancake mix flour?
5. Do you buy water in plastic bottles?
>>>Yes, when we are out and on long driving.

W.O.W.
I know of a few friends whose husbands are so into World of Warcraft games. But it was only yesterday that I learned how expensive this game could be when dear hubby was telling me about some wow shopping sites and how to buy wow gold his cousins asked him to check out. Whew! I am just glad hubby is not into it lol! No wonder some of my girlfriends have been complaining that this hobby of their can take a lot out of their budget. But if you are into this game and want to save a few bucks, check out MyMMOShop.com for their cheap WOW accounts.

Aunt in Vegas.
We are now all set for this West Coast grand vacation. My mom made sure to call all our friends and relatives in the west coast particularly those who live in California and Nevada to free up at least 2 weekends so they could join us in our vacation. An Aunt who is based in Vegas had to talk to me too to research on a reliable Las Vegas accounting firm, good thing as I was able to come across KondlerCpa.com while doing some research for a previous professor. This accounting firm is someone that my Aunt needs. More than anything else, they are all excited to see us especially DS whom they miss so very dearly.

leche flan 101

Yesterday, I was craving for leche flan, this dessert from the Philippines which are easily made at your own home. I emailed my mom for the recipe and guess what I found out? My kuya in CA is also craving for one and so she emailed my mom too. We celebrate our birthdays on the same date and month so probably that explains, or not?! Lol! Now let's get to the recipe part before I dream on these Manhattan hotels.
All you need are these: (as copied from my mom's email)
10 eggyolk
1 condensed milk (big can)
make a syrup in llanera pan about 4 tablespoon sugar or more. set aside.
mix eggyolk with 1 condensed and 1 can water (use the condensed milk can) and put 1 teaspoon vanilla or desired flavoring. put the mixture in the llanera with syrup cover with foil and cook for 1 hour with slow fire or less.

a pre-christmas entry.
While Christmas Season gives us the reason to spend, shop, get fat and feast, we must not forget that we are still on a financial crisis. We should be a little trifty but still generous, splurge a little but do not forget our savings. And while some are holding on to their liquid and investing through bank's interests, other would opt to trading and investing on these gold bullions. Yes you read it right, Monex Deposit company is a reliable company for all of your silver and gold coins and precious metals investments. If you do not understand how this trading is done, click on the link above and you'd be redirected to a site with a wealth of information of trading gold.

Citrus Shrimp
What is it with seafood that we all love? While hubby still has allergy to crabs and squids even shrimps (poor him, he was not able to check on some Ferrari parts), I am just glad I have overcome my seafood allergy. My dad said to keep eating them until my body system gets used to it. Anyhow, here is a simple Shrimp recipe I found. SHRIMPS! I can't get enough of them. I wonder if you decide to be a vegan, are seafoods included in their diet?
INGREDIENTS
2 oranges, zested and juiced
3 limes, zested and juiced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
3 cloves
garlic
1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
DIRECTIONS
In a blender or food processor, combine the orange juice and zest, lime juice and zest, olive oil, garlic and salt. Be careful with the salt - the shrimp really suck it up! Cover, and puree until smooth. Place shrimp in a bowl, and pour the citrus marinade over them. Let them marinate for 20 minutes at room temperature. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp about 3 minutes per side, in batches if necessary, until opaque. Spoon a little of the marinade in with them for extra flavor while they cook if you like.
