house, plans, and more.
I am a sucker for new beginnings and big starts, changes and new things. I love New Year, as if a new big, clean, crisp and blank page is being laid upon on me. Waiting for me to write, doodle and draw every plan, dreams and aspirations I have for the year. January is such a special month, it gives us a chance to leave negative vibes of the past year, draw ways on how we could improve and better our lifes and lay out our plans. Sky's the limit and it's free to dream and when you dream, dream BIG! What I am trying to say here is, although there may be instances that we are carried away by our plans, we should also learn to draw only plans that are achievable and attainable. My bestfriend was telling me (who's husband is an engineer) that she started her new year by posting House Plans in the kitchen wall. This would mark motivation to pursue her dream to build a house for her family. She likes Country House Plans and log home floor plans. Mostly, she gets her home plan designs from houseplansandmore.com. The site has a feature where you could customize the design according to your taste. We both dream of owning our own houses someday. I hope in due time, we'll have one :).

Don't restrict yourself to finding a house plan that sort of works for you. Even the ready-to-go house plans that let you customize the plan won't come anywhere close to the quality of house you can design from scratch. There are good books out there to help you along and help you understand the value of a well designed house. And architects are not as expensive as you might think. A good architect will save you more money than he or she costs. Those savings can come from greater efficiency, greener design, a more apropriate design that suits you well, higher resale value, a better looking house, and much more.
