LIVING THE HEALTHY LIFE: dental hygiene. (part2-the implants)

Next to the hair, I guess one of our 'crowning glories' include our smile. Just imagine, you are too shy to smile because of your crooked teeth and you're breath stinks because of your negligence to regularly visit your dentist. One of the things I look into a person when it is just my 1st time to meet him/her is the way she smiles at me. You can sure tell a lot about a person by his/her smile. I remember hubby and I used to kid each other when we were just about to get married that we should admit to each other if one of us is wearing dentures hee which obviously we are. I guess you know by now you already know what kind of couple we are hee.

But of course, inevitably in our old age, some teeth would fall off and we are left with no choice but to replace those missing teeth to still have that big great and friendly smile. Bridges and dentures are not the popular option nowadays. They have what they call dental implants which are more natural looking and feels more comfortable than bridges or dentures. The process involves placing a metal anchor into the jaw bone and allowing the bone and the anchor to fuse. The prosthetic tooth is then fixed to the metal anchor. However, one has to consider that the process is time consuming and the rates are really expensive. In the end, it is extremely important to take care of our teeth in order to avoid having tooth decays at such an early age. Brushing daily, drinking milk (for calcium), regular dental check-up and avoiding sweets and smoking are just one of the few ways on how to keep your smile from hiding =).
